Lotion Lotion Lotion!!!

Why is using a quality lotion with your airbrush is SO important?

Top benefits of using lotions with an airbrush tan:

  1. Lotions help hydrate the skin in the days prior to your airbrush evening out the skins texture to avoid a scaly or cracking appearance prior to the airbrush application. It also helps to soften stubborn rough areas such as elbow, heels and feet.
  2. Following your airbrush application the use of lotions help rehydrate the skin and keep the skins texture smooth and even.
  3. Using quality lotions, trading UVB sun exposure for an airbrush tan, and using sunscreen, all play a very important part of your overall skin health and prevention against pre mature aging.
  4. The use of sunless tanning ingredients, such as DHA, requires the use of quality lotions to balance the skins hydration and give you the beautiful sunless tan you are desire!

Tips to pick the right lotion for you:

  • Go for unscented lotions – Scented lotions tend to have a higher alcohol content and can be more drying instead of hydrating.
  • Keep more than one lotion handy! Your skins hydration needs can change day to day and month to month. Having more than one option ensures you will have what you need when you need it.
  • Pick a lotion over a cream after your airbrush – unless your skin is REALLY dry, pick lotion over the cream. Cream has a higher oil content and can sit on the skins surface and may break down your sunless tan quicker.
  • Don’t be nervous to try new lotions! Your skin will thank you. Everyone is uniquely different and what works for someone else may not work best for you.

Cetiphil   –   CeraVe   –   Aveeno   –   Jergens.

Have you collaborated before?

When I first started my airbrush business, I knew social media would be a great tool for advertizing. However, I did not realize how huge collaborating with influencers, companies, and photographers would benefit me!

It takes time, so don’t get discouraged, at first it was difficult to find people to collaborate with but after a few successful giveaways my following started to grow and so did my business. From there I started to reach out to different clothing companies, photographers, models, bloggers, even girls with over a few thousand followers on Instagram offering them a free tan in trade for tagging and mentioning their tan in their posts/stories. I was shocked at how much doing this grew my business. More often than not clients that come in for their first tan will mention how they heard about me through “this girl” or saw my tans tagged on “this post”, word spreads and gets around so quickly through social media.

Here are my top 5 tips to help you make collaborating successful:

  1. Don’t be afraid to message/DM companies or girls you’d want to promote your airbrush tans. Everyone wants a tan!! And if they don’t, the worst that will happen is they don’t respond or say they aren’t interested. When contacting them be sure to let them know what you expect in return for giving them a “free tan”, like a post mentioning their tan, a story tagging you, or even having them send you a picture to post as well.

  1. Do giveaways with others! It’s been so fun to work/promote others while helping build up my own followers/clientele.

  1. Encourage or ask your clients to tag their tans. I’ve noticed photographers have taken pictures of clients I’ve tanned so I personally message the photographer asking if they will tag me in the photo as well. Any little tag of your account really helps!

  1. Reach out to girls with over 1000 follow ers. Some of my most consistent clients came from doing this.

  1. Be creative, social media is such a good tool and can be such a great source of helping grow in your business.

Sometimes it can feel overwhelming or exhausting to try and keep up with social media and postings but there is also so much support and growth that can come from it. EG has helped me find something I truly love and enjoy, I feel so lucky to get to work with a great company that has amazing products!!

Tips and Tricks to a Successful busy season.

I don’t know about you, but I want every season to be busy season! I love what I do so much and I know the boost in confidence my clients feel with their fresh tan. But how can we stay as busy as we want to be?

  1. Ask for your clients help. Post to Instagram! I know it’s obvious, but content can be hard to come up with all the time, so I ask my clients as they’re leaving to send me a pic of their gorgeous self that I can post on my page. If they forget, I just send a follow up text and ask for it again. They’re always happy to send something if they took any. Posting your work is key to showing what you can do for potential clients.
  2. Personal touch. I added a birthday line to the top of my client consent form so I can send out a birthday deal via text to my fabulous clients. $20 tan and 15% off products, usually expires 30 day after I send it.
  3. Flexible hours. I do all my tans in my home with it always set up, so I am able to be super flexible with when I can fit clients in. It only takes about 15-20 mins., so its not a big deal for me to do a quick tan at 10pm for a client that works and goes to school and can’t come until then. I’ve even done an early morning Christmas Eve tan! I only do late and early stuff for established clients that I know. One key thing to remember though, when working from home is to avoid burn out and not let your business run you, YOU run the business!
  4. Don’t discount your service, add value. I know a lot of you think, “If I charge more than $20 or $25, then I won’t have any clients!” Well, think about your ideal client. They are the ones that are happy to pay your price and rave about you to their friends, right? Your ideal clients are out there. They will pay for your service if you prove your worth. I like to give away some homemade samples of shaving potion or tan extender sometimes from little 2 oz bottles I found on amazon. That’s the kind of thing that adds value. Plus I would rather do 1 tan for 35 than 2 for 40. I make more with the one tan because I’m not using the extra product or spending the time to do a second tan.
  5. Run promos. I love to stock up on our retail product when EG is running a deal! You should all take advantage of this ladies! Use all the products so you can easily share how amazing they are! That’s how I run promos, or make my samples. From free or steeply discounted products, I’m able to do a giveaway or even add a free product to a full price tan package purchase. I currently just posted a Mother’s Day deal, “buy 1 tan and get a perfect glow tan extender for $35” ($70 value) while supplies last.” Also, maybe, pick a winter month and sell a deal of Brilliant Glow self tanning lotion and small aerosol to fight the winter blues. Get creative!
  6. Customer appreciation month(s) I would pick 1 or 2 of your slowest months in the winter, or even if you’ve got a super open week and want to make some money, and post a deal that they can only get by mentioning your post or showing a text you send. This can be a slightly discounted tan during that time frame, a bigger discount of retail product, a combination, or free gift with tan. The idea is to get your favorite clients in your door and let them know you are so grateful for their patronage and support.
  7. There is so much going on year round, and people always want to look their best! vacations, weddings, family pics, photo shoots, parties, dances, girls night out, date night, we all have reasons to look amazing every season. Figure out your ideal client, and find them!

PS- Have you seen the NEW LOOK and NEW products that are soon to be released??!! I’m so excited!!

Happy Tanning!

Tips and Tricks to a Successful busy season.

Wedding Season

Wedding season is here and we want your brides to have an absolutely “glowing” wedding day!
1. Educate.
Understanding  the difference between “spray tans” and “airbrush tans,” will help your brides to understand the importance of choosing a  Endless Glow airbrush for the most natural looking tan. To read an earlier blog post on this exact topic (“the difference between an airbrush and spray tan”)  here.
2. Perform a “trial airbrush.”
Scheduling a trial airbrush gives both the bride and the Tech the opportunity to find the perfect color, application level, and communicate the desired result.  In addition, you and your bride will be able to watch how the tan fades, making sure they look most perfect on the big day!
3. Bridal Packages
Create a bridal packages that include one or two trial tans and a tan for the big day.  In the package you can include a couple of free samples, treats, and a thank you card.  Its important to make your clients feel special, and what a perfect time to do so!
4. Take advantage of the pre and post care products provided.
All of the Endless Glow pre and post airbrush products were specifically designed with the “PERFECT AIRBRUSH” in mind. Starting with the prep for the application and continuing until the tan is faded completely, each product is specifically  used to enhance and prolong the airbrush.  Using  pre and post care products as directed will give  the results needed, longer lasting airbrush tans, and confidence in the airbrush tan  that will last well  through the wedding.
5. Read ALL pre and post care information.
E.G. Techs are educated on everything needed to know how to provide an amazing experience.  Even if your bride has done sunless tanning before, communication is the key to a successful airbrush for the big day! From prep to after care, it is SO important to communicate all the steps to achieve the most beautiful, natural, airbrush for the big day.
Most importantly … have fun and enjoy being part of such an beautiful occasion! .

Understanding the “base color bronzing formulas” in sunless tanning solutions.

We are frequently asked about the “base color” of solutions because of the number of different “base color” options offered throughout the industry. So what makes Endless Glow premixed bronzing formulation superior to other “base colors” offered?

Lets first talk about what actually “tans” your skin in sunless tanning products. It is the DHA in the product that reacts with the amino acids in each person’s skin to “dye” the top layer, and produce a variance of “tan tones.”  It is both the quality of the DHA and the perfect amount of DHA applied to the skin that results in the best “tan.”

The “base color” or “bronzer” doesn’t actually affect the end result of an airbrush tan. Bronzer is added to the solution to provide a guide to the technician during the application process.  The bronzing formula not only lends to an even application from the Tech, but as an added benefit, also gives a beautiful bronzed appearance . However, after the DHA has completed it’s processing time on the skin, you will then shower off any remaining bronzer in the shower leaving only the healthy “tan” produced by the DHA. Again, the  effects of  the beautiful color and lasting result of the airbrush tan directly relates to the quality of the  DHA, amount applied,  and other ingredients used in the formulation. All the E.G. solutions that you love so much only use the highest quality DHA and other ingredients available.

Other companies may offer  multiple base colored bronzers giving the illusion that the bronzer formulation will give a different end result. This is just not the case since the bronzer is NOT what “gives the tan,” and it is actually washed down the drain only a few hours after application. These products come at a  higher cost to you as  a Tech with no real difference for  the end result of the airbrush.

So, when you have a client asking for a specific “base color,” its important to educate them on the science behind airbrush tanning, and more specifically the bronzing formulation in solutions. It doesn’t mean their past technician’s were wrong, but it does mean that they have been mislead on  the purpose of the  “bronzing formula” in a solution. Unfortunately for those buying the “addition bronzers” to change the “base color,”, they are literally watching their hard earned money, rinse down the drain.

To sum this up, teach your client’s  the quality, and amount of DHA applied to skin at one time are THE MOST  important factors for a beautiful end result. The  premixed bronzing formulation in our E.G. solutions reacts uniquely  with amino acids in the skin to give the most desirable tone of bronze for each individual client while the DHA is processing. As a E.G. Tech you have the perfect “DHA to Bronzer” ratio for the application, and your clients will be completely satisfied with the end result of their sunless airbrush tan! It is definitely a win win for all!
